 Five A Side Cup

This Competition starts on Thursday 13th April with the Semi Finals and Final to be played at Central Park on Saturday 29th April commencing at 6-00pm.

 Web Site

The website is now back up and running with the new address of www.wallaseybowls.co.uk and all the up to date news, results, league tables and information regarding individual competitions, team competitions etc can be seen on the site.

 League Fixture Secretary

Colin Jones is now in sole control of all matters relating to League Matches and any queries regarding results, re-arranged fixtures or disputes between clubs should be addressed to Colin rather than the Association Secretary. Anything Colin cannot settle will be dealt with by the Executive Committee. Colin’s address and phone number can be found on the League Result Sheets.

 Charity Day

This season’s event takes place on Sunday 14th May at Manor Road, starting at 1pm.  The New Brighton Lifeboat will be the beneficiary this year with all proceeds going towards the upkeep of the actual lifeboat at New Brighton rather than the R.N.L.I.

West Kirby Victoria, last seasons Division One Champions will take on a Wallasey Select Side.  Spectators are more than welcome to come along and support our fundraising day.

 Weekly Draw

The weekly draw will once again be up and running this season and we ask for your support.  To recap, tickets cost £1 and all you have to do is match the six numbers drawn randomly each week.  You get three chances to win on each ticket, marking your choice of six numbers on each of the three boxes.  If no one matches the winning numbers then all tickets received that week go into a draw for £30 and one number less is used the following week.  Tickets will be on sale at the start of the Five A Side Competition and the 1st draw will be on Sunday 30th April.

Individual Competitions

As usual the Tom Basnett Pairs will be the first competition this season with the closing date for entries being Saturday 20th May. Entry Fee is £4 per pair.

 Divisional Cups

All the Cup draws can be seen in the handbook with the preliminary rounds taking place on Tuesday May 2nd.

 Handbook Errors

As is normal at this time of year we all like to look for any printing errors in the handbook. At first glance I can only come up with 2 errors concerning the Wallasey Section of the handbook.

  1. Page 60. The Fixtures should be 2006 and not 2005.
  2. Page 67.  The Sacred Heart “A” starred player S.Sweeney should in fact be D.Sweeney

As far as I can see all the fixtures are correct and I am sure that eagle eyed observers will no doubt be quick to let me know if they can spot any more errors.

 Finally

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Club Secretaries for their help during the Winter Months in returning their registration forms etc on time and wish all the bowlers in our Association the best of luck for the forthcoming season.

Remember the object is to enjoy your game no matter what level you may play at.

Peter Dodd

Secretary
